After a period of two years, Sony Music is releasing a sequel
to the massive hit Dance Masti, in a cheekily titled album called
"The Return of Dance Masti". This new album
has been produced by the same successful team "Instant
Karma", comprising of Farhad Wadia, Ehsaan Noorani
and Loy Mendonca. The album also features a wide range of talented
vocalist line-up like Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan and Mahalakshmi
Iyer.
The Return of Dance Masti epitomises the best of traditional
tumes and contemporary dance beats. The album features 10 new
songs that are interpretations of the evergreen seventies classics.
The point to note is that the original compositions of each
of these tracks have been retained. The only addition being,
that they have been enhanced with a funky nineties twist and
a lot of "Masti" (fun).
Musically, The Return of Dance Masti covers new ground
by incorporating cutting edge club sounds like Drum 'N' Bass,
Ambient Trance and Euro, wedged with classic Indian tunes. Therefore
this album definitely personifies a quantum leap in technology
terms, combining electronic influences with live sounds of Table,
Dhil, Flute, Saxaphone and guitar.
Baahon Mein Chali Aao (the Classic hit from the well known box-office
film Anamika) and Hum Bewafa(from the Indo-American venture
Shalimar), have been chosen as the lead tracks. The first video
uniquely features these two tracks. The first video uniquely
features these two tracks. Shot at the exotic locales by ace
cinematographer Baba Azmi, the film has been deftly directed
by the upcoming film-maker Rachel Rubin of Sprocket Films. Famous
models Shyla Lopez and Shabir Ali are features in the film.
The video helps to showcase the songs in all its glory by encapsulating
the right emotions through a simple story line.
